Downloaded File Shows "File Was Not Available" Error
When downloading a backup or archive from BaoHost, you may encounter one of these errors:
- "File was not available"
- "Failed - Unknown server error"
This usually happens when your browser failed to fully complete the download, leaving behind an incomplete file.
Fix: Rename the Incomplete File
If the download failed, your browser may have saved an incomplete file with a .crdownload extension (e.g., Unconfirmed 123456.crdownload).
- Go to your Chrome downloads page (
chrome://downloads) and find the failed download. - Note the original file name (e.g.,
backup-2024-01-01.tar.gz) โ copy it exactly. - Open your Downloads folder and locate the
.crdownloadfile. - Rename the file to the exact original file name you copied.
- A prompt will appear: "If you change the file extension, the file might become unstable. Are you sure?" โ click Yes.
- The file is now renamed to
.tar.gzand should be usable.
Note: BaoHost archives use the
.tar.gzformat. Make sure the renamed file ends in.tar.gz.
