Why You Can't Upload a Custom Server JAR

BaoHost does not allow users to upload a custom or external server.jar file directly to their server files.

Why this is not allowed

This is a security measure. Allowing arbitrary JAR files to be uploaded and executed on our infrastructure poses a significant risk โ€” malicious or untrusted JARs could compromise the server, the node, and other users sharing the same infrastructure. BaoHost is committed to providing a safe, stable, and performant experience for all users, and this restriction is in place to protect that.

How to Change Your Server Software

Instead of uploading a JAR manually, you can change your server software safely through the panel:

  1. Go to your server in the panel.
  2. Click on the Options tab.
  3. Under Server Type, click Change Type.
  4. Select your desired server software:
    • Vanilla โ€” Official Minecraft server software from Mojang
    • Paper โ€” High performance Spigot fork with optimizations and bug fixes
    • Fabric โ€” Lightweight modding toolchain for Minecraft
    • Forge โ€” Modding platform with extensive mod support
    • NeoForge โ€” Modern Forge successor with improved APIs and active development
    • Purpur โ€” Paper fork with more gameplay and performance features
    • Folia โ€” Paper fork that adds regionized multithreading
    • Quilt โ€” Open-source, community-driven modding toolchain
    • Arclight โ€” Hybrid server software combining Bukkit plugins with Forge mods
    • Leaf โ€” Paper fork aimed to balance performance, vanilla and stability
  5. Select your desired Minecraft version and click Install.

โš ๏ธ Note: Changing your server software may require a world reset if the new software is incompatible with your existing world files.
