Why You Can't Upload a Custom Server JAR
BaoHost does not allow users to upload a custom or external server.jar file directly to their server files.
Why this is not allowed
This is a security measure. Allowing arbitrary JAR files to be uploaded and executed on our infrastructure poses a significant risk โ malicious or untrusted JARs could compromise the server, the node, and other users sharing the same infrastructure. BaoHost is committed to providing a safe, stable, and performant experience for all users, and this restriction is in place to protect that.
How to Change Your Server Software
Instead of uploading a JAR manually, you can change your server software safely through the panel:
- Go to your server in the panel.
- Click on the Options tab.
- Under Server Type, click Change Type.
- Select your desired server software:
- Vanilla โ Official Minecraft server software from Mojang
- Paper โ High performance Spigot fork with optimizations and bug fixes
- Fabric โ Lightweight modding toolchain for Minecraft
- Forge โ Modding platform with extensive mod support
- NeoForge โ Modern Forge successor with improved APIs and active development
- Purpur โ Paper fork with more gameplay and performance features
- Folia โ Paper fork that adds regionized multithreading
- Quilt โ Open-source, community-driven modding toolchain
- Arclight โ Hybrid server software combining Bukkit plugins with Forge mods
- Leaf โ Paper fork aimed to balance performance, vanilla and stability
- Select your desired Minecraft version and click Install.
