How to Fix "Failed to Verify Username" Error

This error appears when Minecraft is unable to authenticate your account with Mojang's session servers.

Why this happens

• Mojang's authentication servers are down or experiencing issues.
• Your internet connection is unstable or interrupted during login.
• You are using a cracked or non-premium Minecraft account on an online-mode server.
• Your firewall or antivirus is blocking Minecraft's connection to Mojang's servers.

How to fix it

Option 1 — Enable offline mode (for cracked users)

If you or your players are using non-premium Minecraft accounts, you need to disable online mode on your server:

1. Go to the Files tab in your panel.
2. Open server.properties.
3. Find online-mode=true and set it to online-mode=false.
4. Save the file and restart your server.

⚠️ Warning: Disabling online mode removes account authentication entirely, which means anyone can join using any username. This is a security risk and is not recommended for public servers.

Option 2 — Check Mojang's Server Status

Before trying anything else, check if Mojang's servers are currently down:

1. Visit status.mojang.com or downdetector.com to see if there are any ongoing issues.
2. If Mojang's servers are down, wait for them to recover and try again.

Option 3 — Restart your Minecraft client

1. Close Minecraft completely.
2. Relaunch the game and log in again.
3. Try connecting to the server again.

Option 4 — Check your internet connection

1. Make sure your internet connection is stable.
2. Try switching from Wi-Fi to a wired connection, or vice versa.
3. Restart your router if needed.

Option 5 — Disable your firewall or antivirus temporarily

Your firewall or antivirus may be blocking Minecraft from connecting to Mojang's authentication servers. Temporarily disable it and try connecting again.
